Application note low temperature sterilization
Nearly
all medical devices need to sterilized before they are used. Therefore a
huge varyiety of different sterilization process is uesd. Over the last
years more and more heatsensitive devices, such as endoscopes or
PE-materials, need to be sterilized at low temperatures. Only very
cost-intesive conventional sterilization methods like beta- and gamma-rays
operate at low temperatures.
Because of the increasing demand over the last years we developed a cost-effective method for low temperature sterilization: plasma sterilization. Plasma sterilization offers a set of advantages: low working temperature (50°C), short treatment time (less than 1 hour until re-usage of sterilized goods), no chemicals are used and therefore no active agents are detectable on the goods.
